It promotes haemoglobin synthesis and results in a rapid increase in haemoglobin levels. It can be used to treat all types and stages of anaemia. It is thought to increase apotransferrine production from the liver via bile, allowing for improved iron absorption from all sections of the small intestine. It is well tolerated and offers therapeutic doses of elemental iron for progressive haemopoesis. It also contains calcium and a variety of other trace elements, which help to improve cellular metabolism.
